Pete is an engineer by training and a professional business manager with 25 years' experience in the international hi-tech engineering industry. Although competition plays a very important role, he believes in the strengths of business collaboration for long term growth and building skills, having led many business and private sector partnerships with government and employee support. He also has contrasting experience from the perspective of more recent hard times as a single parent with 'family friendly' local jobs and on tax credits.

Nationally Pete is passionate about developing both a strong resilient economy as well as a fairer society. He strongly supports the right for all to have the opportunities to grow their contribution to society and is particularly pleased by the apprenticeship and vocational further education schemes. He believes in changing politics to be more human-centred, reality-based and practical.

Pete believes reducing the budget deficit is vital for our children, but that we need to balance spending cuts with tax increases on those who can afford them - to pay for essential public services in education and integrated care and support services. Locally, the transport challenges and lack of affordable homes are key problems he will work on.

Always seeking to ensure communities are provided for, Pete has sought play areas, contributed to walk booklets, organised community events and helped write community planning documents. He is particularly interested in sustainability from local food and conserving our environment to the resilience of communities and our individual wellbeing.

Pete says “I have my roots in the community, love the diversity of the area and am committed to applying my wide experience to serving the people of Filton and Bradley Stoke".
