NAOMI NEWSTEAD
CANDIDATE FOR CAMBERWELL AND PECKHAM

I was born and raised in Camberwell in a single parent family, went to Lyndhurst Primary and Pimlico School, have lived in south east London all my life and am now bringing up three children who go to my local primary school in Honor Oak.

When I left school I was turned down for a job because there was no tube station near where I lived in Camberwell. In over 20 years, there is still no tube station and the buses change drivers frequently in Camberwell. My main focus if elected will be to fight for a tube station and better transport so that young people can compete for jobs, so that we can all get to work and get where we need to be at the weekends.

I will also campaign for more school places delivering high academic standards for local children. I have three primary aged children and like many parents am concerned about the shortage of secondary school places locally.

My other focus will be the high price we pay for utility bills, which leaves many of us with little to spend on other essentials. I have already started contacting the energy companies to see what help they can give to pensioners, leading to reduced bills in my constituency and I intend to extend this campaign to fight against planned rises in water bills.
