Mahmud Henry Rogers

Mahmud Henry Rogers grew up and went to school in Bedford before studying at the London School of Economics. He has a masters from the United Nations University and Maastricht Graduate School of Governance in the Netherlands. He joined the Liberal Democrats after graduating because we are a party of radical reform and he wanted to campaign locally to make the world a better place.

He has worked in the private and public sector as an accountant and from 2006 to 2009 he served as a Councillor for Goldington Ward on Bedford Borough Council, championing local people’s concerns on a range of issues.

Mahmud said:

‘It is a privilege to be selected to stand for the Liberal Democrats in Bedford and Kempston. I grew up in Bedford and want the best for our thriving, diverse, growing towns.

‘We will ensure that we can expand the education funding for the most disadvantaged and lift low earners out of paying tax altogether – something we started in this parliament by raising the tax threshold to £10,000.

‘I want to work with local champions, like Mayor Dave Hodgson, to support our continuing vision to improve our town and Borough whilst protecting front-line services.’
