Gary Puffett
Candidate for Aldershot

49 years old, I am married with 2 children, served for 26 years as an operational fire-fighter, attaining the rank of Watch Commander and currently work as a Fire Safety Advisor. Despite leaving school at 16 to work in a factory, I returned to education in 2011, and was awarded a Master of Laws (LLM) degree in Employment Law with the University of Leicester in July 2014. A member of a trade union since 1981, I currently represent colleagues as a workplace rep for Unite the Union.

Aldershot has been severely affected by the cost of living crisis created by the Con-Dem government. Rising utility bills, rail fares and housing costs have all resulted in a drop in living standards; despite David Cameron and George Osborne’s boast of an improving economy. Labour’s cost-of-living contract will redress the problem and I am determined to stand-up for the most vulnerable in society.

The Aldershot Constituency has a rich history with Aldershot rightly proud to be known as the home of the British Army and Farnborough as the birthplace of modern aviation in the UK. It is an honour to be associated with the constituency and a privilege to be standing as Labour Parliamentary Candidate, to lead our campaigns here and to fight for Labour and the people of Aldershot.
