Peterborough, Lisa Forbes

Lisa is a local mum, married to George and has lived in Peterborough for over 25 years. Before taking time out to raise her children Lisa worked for in the travel industry as a Flight Consultant.

Lisa is a lifelong Labour supporter, and joined the party in 2010. Lisa was motivated to get more involved following the 2010 general election, seeing the effect the Tory-led government has had on her community.

Lisa stood for local government and was proud to be elected as a Peterborough City Councillor for Orton Longueville Ward in May 2012. As a Councillor and an activist she has worked hard on campaigns to protect local Children's Centres and Play Centre's from closure. Lisa was also a leading campaigner against closures of residential homes for the elderly.

Lisa actively campaigns on issues such as the bedroom room tax, preventing the privatisation of Peterborough Hospital and against the £1.3billion outsourcing of adult social care in Peterborough and Cambridgeshire.

Lisa grew up on a council estate, and has always been motivated by fairness, social justice and tackling inequality. Lisa has always believed in hard work and increasing opportunity. It is these values that drive Lisa and what she would bring to being Peterborough's next Labour MP.
