Conservative Party members in Kingston & Surbiton have chosen James Berry to be their Prospective Parliamentary Candidate (PPC) for the next General Election.

James is a lawyer, school governor and Conservative campaigner. He has lived in London for the past 12 years having been born and raised in Canterbury.

James is the son of a College Principal and a primary school teacher. He got married in August this year having met his wife on their first day studying at Harvard together.

James studied law at University College London and Harvard Law School in the USA before becoming a barrister specialising in healthcare and police issues. He has been involved in high profile cases such as the Leveson Inquiry and enjoys representing people from a cross-section of society.

In his spare time James enjoys walking, cooking, history and getting involved in community projects.

His political priorities are:

• Securing enough school places for local children and improving education.
• Ensuring that Kingston and Surbiton is a clean and safe place to live.
• Promoting local businesses, jobs and growth.
• Fostering aspiration and opportunity for all.

James said, "I am honoured and delighted to have been chosen as the Conservative Party’s PPC for Kingston and Surbiton from a strong field. Kingston and Surbiton is a fantastic area. I will be starting straight away, getting out and meeting people across the constituency to understand what matters to them. I am looking forward to working with local Conservatives, supporting our excellent candidates for the 2014 Kingston Council elections and taking the fight to the Liberal Democrats in 2015.”
