Hexham, Liam Carr
I was born and brought up in a small village in County Durham. I have been a supporter of the Labour Party all my life and an active member of a Trade Union for all of my working life. My mother was a Labour councillor and my Father was a steelworker in Consett until it was closed down by a previous Conservative government after a lengthy dispute. My Labour party values and sense of social justice go back a long way.
I am happily married and I have two daughters, aged 8 and 6. I understand the many challenges facing families across this region. Outside of politics, I am a Biology lecturer, I enjoy playing guitar, walking and climbing.
