Calder Valley, Joshua Fenton-Glynn

Josh was born and brought up in Calder Valley, he attended Stubbings and Riverside schools in Hebden Bridge and Calder High school in Mytholmroyd. His first job was as a special needs assistant at Calder High School.

Josh went to university in Liverpool and has spent most of his political career working to defend the most vulnerable, including working in Oxfam’s UK Poverty Programme and for Child Poverty Action Group. Josh had a very real effect of some of the laws that helped lift children out of poverty.

Josh now works for a Trade Union based in Leeds and lives in Waring Green in Brighouse. He has been very active in the campaign to save Calderdale Royal A&E and says he is proud to be using the skills he has built up to stand up for his community.

When asked why he had chosen to stand for Labour Josh said “I want to be Calder Valley’s voice in Westminster, I’m standing against an MP who is more interested in being David Cameron’s voice in Calder Valley.”
