Rob Marris
Candidate for Wolverhampton South West

Rob Marris is a solicitor who has lived his whole life in the Wolverhampton South West constituency, apart from 9 years in Canada when young.

A well-known local figure, he is involved in various local groups; for example as Chair of the Whitmore Reans Welfare Centre, as a trustee of Believe to Achieve, as a board member of The Haven, and as member of Wolves on Wheels cycling campaign. For many years he has been a season ticket holder at the Molineux.

He was the MP for Wolverhampton South West 2001-10, and is passionate about Wolverhampton. He wants fair funding for Wolverhampton Council, coupled with policies to retain and attract energetic young people in the city, to try to keep the talent which currently leaches out of the city each year as young, educated Wulfrunians move away.

In addition, he advocates a central government programme of mass house-building on brown-field sites, to tackle the desperate shortage of housing which has caused high prices for would-be buyers, and ridiculously high rents for tenants (with the resultant huge increase in the cost of Housing Benefit).
