Chris was elected as MP for Daventry in May 2010. In Parliament he sits on the Public Accounts Committee and the European Scrutiny Committee. He is Co-Chairman of the Fresh Start Project, which has set out proposals for renegotiating a new relationship for the UK in the European Union and is the Chairman of the European Research Group. He also runs the Parliamentary Campaign against onshore windfarms. Chris also champions issues surrounding the emotive subjects of stillbirth, neonatal care and selective dorsal rhizotomy (SDR).

From 1999 to 2009, Chris was a Conservative Member of the European Parliament for the East Midlands, serving as Chief Whip of the British Conservatives between 2001 and 2004. Before entering politics, he worked in and eventually ran his family’s business – a wholesale fruit and vegetable company – for eleven years. A sports enthusiast, he is an advocate for the Special Olympics movement in the UK and has been an active and qualified football referee for over 32 years.
