William Edwards
Candidate for Bury St Edmunds

I am standing as parliamentary candidate in Bury-St-Edmunds because I want a better life for ordinary people, which is what the Labour party has always stood for. I will do my best to represent the constituency in Parliament raising local issues. In the last election I was the Labour candidate for Braintree and will put the experience to good use to win for Bury-St-Edmunds.

I have a range of relevant experience and expertise. Since 1990 I have run my own consultancy on making confectionery following ten years in the products research and development department of Rowntrees in York. I studied chemistry at university and I have a doctorate in chemistry. The experience with my own business has taught me the difficulties and challenges of running a business. Previously I have worked for the Food Research Association as a research scientist. Having experience as a quality assurance manager for a flour milling company helps me to appreciate some of the problems for farmers in the area.

I was born in Westminster and grew up in Romford. As a child I spent many happy days visiting my mother's cousins in Suffolk.

I am a trustee of the Braintree Community Association and a committee member of the Great Bardfield Historical Society.

My hobbies are photography, history, reading and playing the violin.
