Robert Alden, who was born and raised in Birmingham, lives in the heart of Erdington with his wife Louise. Robert has been a local City Councillor for Erdington ward since 2006. Before that Robert worked at Aston Villa for the bar and catering company.

Robert is heavily involved in the local community being a school governor, a director of the Erdington Town Centre Business Improvement District and member of numerous local resident groups across the area. Over the last seven years Robert has had a proven track record for delivering for local residents, including helping solve council tax issues or fixing potholes, securing the resurfacing of the High Street, and leading the fight to save the local walk-in centre.

Robert fought the Erdington seat at the 2010 General Election, achieving a swing of 10.4%, one of the largest in the country, and turning the previously safe Labour constituency into a key marginal seat at the next election.

Robert said, “I am incredibly proud to have been selected by residents to stand again in Erdington and Kingstanding. It is one of the best places in the country and deserves an MP who understands Birmingham, cares about local people and puts the area first.”
